The Peter Patter Book of Nursery Rhymes
Published in Hardcover by Random House Value Pub (February, 1988)

The Peter Patter Book
As a child I loved this book of nonsensical rhymes. I was so happy that I remembered the title and that Amazon was able to find a brand new copy of this book which was written in 1918.

The illustrations are so captivating, from another era. I am now in my mid-60's and can still remember several of the rhymes. I wanted to have this for my grandson. Now that I have received it and have gone through it page by page, I am going to order it for my friends' grandchildren. It is thoroughly charming.

The Picture Life of Michael Jackson

This is better than most older books on MIchael
I have to say other than all of this book being in black and white, except the cover it's a cool book. THere are pictures of michael with his white glove pre Motown 1983. Alot of Triumph tour pictures and some 1984 pictures. It goes all the way up to the Pepsi commercials. Alot of the pictures though from the 80's I have already and plus they are in color so that's kinda a down for the book. that's about it. it's a kid book like marvelous michael jackson or this is michael jackson or like that. peace

Pioneer of Tropical Landscape Architecture: William Lyman Phillips in Florida
Published in Hardcover by University Press of Florida (October, 1997)
Author: Faith Reyher Jackson
Average review score:

A Review of a Book by Faith Reyher Jackson
Finally, thirty four years after the passing of one of the most important figures in the development of landscape architecture. A fine book detailing the life of this great man has surfaced. The book is titled "pioneer of tropical landscape architecture" by faith reyher jackson, published by the university press of florida. The book is a masterpiece in its detailed treatment of not only the man but the deep imprint that he left on the florida scene in the 20th century. William lyman phillips was a genius but his overwhelming modesty denied him his rightful place amongst the great landscape architects of his era. Jackson has skillfully and accurately covered all of the remarkable imprints that phillips has left on the florida and panama canal zone scene. As stated in the book overleaf, phillips was the project superintendent of the first wave of florida's civilian conservation corps and later the consultant to the national and county park service. Phillips built all of south florida i s public parks as well as large numbers of private ones. He designed dozens of public housing sites, hospitals, cemeteries, airports, roads, highways, private gardens and college campuses. His masterpiece was fairchild tropical garden. I strongly recommend this book to all those readers who have an interest in the life and achievements of unsung heroes.

pistol packin momma
this book is about my dad's sister aunt molly jackson.my dad was biil garland .aunt molly was called pistol packin momma because she rode horseback across the mountains to deliver babies. she always carried her pistol with her in case there was trouble.she had a gruff voice ,but a twinkle in her eye when she would tell her stories.she believed in helping people and, her songs reflected this.she was a treasure.aunt molly is a part of our mountain heritiage we should never forget.i teach my children and grandchildren about my mountain heritiage

Thanks for writing this book
I first heard about "pistol packin' mama" when I was a child. They played the song on the radio then announced that Molly Jackson had died. My mother told me then that she was my granny's half-sister. What child is not going to be fascinated by being related to someone with that sort of nickname? My grandma, Lona Isabelle, is the Garland that did not leave Kentucky. She married Matt Doolin and proceeded to have lots of children. At least one of her sons was killed in the coal mine. She told me lots of stories but never once mentioned Molly. My cousins and I were understandably curious but could not find out anything about her. We saw Jim and Sarah when they came to visit, but they never mentioned her either. We have all tried to find out about her in various libraries with very little luck. I have just started using the internet and this was one of the first things I looked up.I found this book and ordered it, hoping it would give me some idea about who she was. I received the book yesterday and could not put it down. Obviously all of my family will be as interested as I am. I think it will be fascinating to anyone interested in labor relations, women's roles in history, or Appalachian living. It was well worth the money to me and you will be getting more orders from our family. I want to thank Shelly Romalis for taking the time to research and write this book.

Plains Indian Drawings 1865-1935: Pages from a Visual History
Published in Hardcover by Harry N Abrams (October, 1996)
Authors: Janet Catherine Berlo, Anna Blume, Candace S. Greene, Marilee Jantzer-White, Gerald McMaster, Jacki Thompson Rand, W. Jackson Rushing, and Edwin L. Wade
Average review score:

A Superb Reference Work
This really is a "must-have" book for anyone interested in the details of what Plains Indians wore. It contains hundreds of wonderful full colour plates of Ledger Drawings by Plains Indians of Plains Indians. The production values of the book are also very high indeed, so that it is not only a marvellous reference work, it is also beautiful to look at and to hold. The standard of scholarship of the accompanying text is also excellent. As an author and artist, I found it truly inspirational. The only possible criticism is that more of the Ledger Drawings themselves were not reproduced, because the references to them are tantalising.

Play the Viol: The Complete Guide to Playing the Treble, Tenor, and Bass Viol (Early Music Series No 10)
Published in Paperback by Oxford University Press (July, 1992)
Authors: Alison Crum and Sonia Jackson
Average review score:

An Excellent Technical Introduction to the Viol
As probably all the people interested in this book know, finding instruction the Viol is difficult. If you do find instruction, you will also most likely find that it is quite expensive. Luckily, Alison Crum has taken the step to solve this problem with her books. In it, she covers all the major topics in vivid detail, from how to hold the viol to proper fingering. Her detailed analysis covers the information you would have to find in a number of other books, written in Elizabethan English.

If you are considering learning to play the Viol and have a budget to consider, I recommend her books to train yourself and save a pretty penny!
